TRADITIONAL SARAGURO
This wallka, as they say in Kichwa collar, is the traditional clothing of Saraguro women. It is hand-woven by artisans from the Indigenous Women's Center. The creation of this product takes approximately 35 hours of work.
The COSMOVIVENCE of the Saraguro people is expressed in the weaving of beautiful shapes. On the one hand, the different colors that make up the walka refer to the diversity of cultures of Abya-Yala, to the harmony with all the beings of Pachamama. On the other hand, its shape of circles, one inside the other until there are 50 rows, indicates the notion of circular time, the PACHAKUTIK. It is a sacred term whose meaning is the eternal return of time. In Kichwa Pacha means time, space. Kutik means return, return. To read more, visit our blog.
